Hello from Chicago O'Hare! I am currently in between flights and on my way to Montreal, Canada!!! I'm so excited/eager/kind of scared/overwhelmed because I'm attending my first food photography workshop. It's hosted by the *so amazing and talented it's unreal* photographers/bloggers Betty and Sophie. I'm so excited because well duh, it's going to be so much fun. When I saw they were hosting one this fall a few months ago, Kyle really encouraged me to go because I'm trying to develop more photo skills and we both thought it would be a great learning experience and worthwhile investment, etc. The workshop should cover most everything food and photo related, and no one will be mad at me because I won't be the only one taking photos of our food before we eat it!
I'm hoping that by being in the same room as them that some of their talent can rub off on me...And then I'm also a wee bit scared/overwhelmed because meeting new people can be intimidating, and I'm a little nervous about traveling by myself to a different country for the first time (although it is only Canada which is seriously so close to the U.S. but still!). I'm sure everything will be fine. The hardest part was making it to the airport by 4:30 AM, so I'm doing good so far.
I just got my first cup of coffee after being awake since an ungodly hour, and am now feeling a bit more human. Why would I ever think a 6 AM flight is a good idea? Thankfully, I stowed away a Salt Lick breakfast taco from the Austin airport in my carry on, so I'd like to eat this now. Goodbye and hello soon from Canada!
I'm sharing the recipe for this savory fall dish over at Austin Food Magazine today! Find the full recipe here.
