One of my biggest pet peeves is packing. I loathe it. Planning ahead, anticipating everything I might possibly need or want, it's so annoying and utterly impossible. Unlike most girls I know, I also tend to under pack, and end up not having a lot of the essentials. This may be because I was raised by a pro-world-traveler (mom!) who taught me to pack very minimally. :)
This weekend and for the first part of next week, I will be in Maryland attending a conference for work. This is my third conference, so I feel like by now I have a better handle of what to expect and what to wear for these things. This time, I planned ahead. Below is a list and a couple of snapshots of what I will be bringing, and what I suggest are the best basics for attending work conferences:
Note: neutrals are best, with minimal pops of color! -one dress -one pair of jeans (they should be a dark wash, without rips or tears) -two button downs (I like white or prints!) -one pair black pants -one pair of flats (that are comfy and can be worn with any outfit) I stand the entire day at these conferences, so being comfortable is very important to me and vital for my sanity. I also swapped out the pictured black and white flats for red ones...I realized this morning that my wardrobe contained virtually no color. This is what living in NYC does to you--too much black! -one pair of sneakers (for walking/exploring after the conference) -one pair black boots (for cold weather) -one blazer -one scarf, an easy way to transform any look is with a cute scarf! Also, the conference venues are generally freezing and very drafty) -one sweater -minimal jewelry (maybe a watch or thin bracelets, a necklace, stud earrings--easy for me, I always keep my little diamond studs in my ears and rarely take them out!)
