Hi and welcome! Thanks for stopping by!
Well hello there, I'm Madeline. I come from a small town in central Texas and grew up with two younger siblings, donkeys, chickens, and for a short period in time - a few goats, as well as three yellow labrador retrievers. Shortly after graduating from college, my newly-married husband and I packed up everything we owned and moved to New York City in January 2014. For the next (nearly) three years, we lived out our dream of living in a big city, and took full advantage of exploring the Northeast as much as we could. We lived in a tiny closet in Harlem and loved it (well, most of the time)! I worked in book publishing by day and we indulged in the NYC food scene on the weekends.
After awhile though we missed our families, and got pretty tired of the crowds and cold winters (I'm not a huge fan of snow, particularly the black nasty stuff in NYC street corners). We now reside in Austin, TX (with our newly adopted husky, Sibbie!), and are so happy to be back near family, the beautiful Texas hill country, country music, and Tex-Mex again!
My husband Kyle is my best friend and my high school sweetheart. We started dating when I was 16 and have been going on adventures ever since. We love to travel, cook together, spend time with our families, and go to the movies. He is the photo assistant behind the scenes, the occasional hand-model when needed, and often the dishwasher. He also helps eat the majority of things made here! But most importantly, we both fully rely and believe in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (1 John 4:9-12)
about the blog
My blog was born out of a need for creativity when I started working in the corporate world in NYC. It is where I develop and practice my love for photography, food, storytelling, and travel. I focus mostly on seasonal ingredients, and a balanced mix of healthy and crave-worthy indulgent recipes. My inspiration draws from a lot of places, but mostly from our time in NYC, my Texas upbringing, my Filipino roots, and all the amazing food bloggers out there. I love learning new ways to cook vegetables and quick weeknight dinners but also love to bake breads.
I'd love to hear from you, so please feel free to reach out here. I'm always interested in collaborating on projects whether it is recipe development and/or freelance photography/recipe videos!
